During October 2007 a team of assessors from Excellence Wales visited the Council to undertake site visits in relation to four applications made by the Council for the 2007-08 Excellence Wales awards. One of the categories entered was "Our Children & Young People - protecting and fulfilling lives and futures". Staff from Education & Children's Services played a lead role in submitting the entry and arranging the site visit which took place at Llwynhendy Integrated Children's Centre.
Verbal feedback from the assessors during the site visits suggests that we were successful in impressing upon them the excellent work undertaken every day by staff across the Department, along with staff from other Departments and partners from various organisations. The Departmental Management Team would especially like to thank all of those staff who contributed to the submission and, especially, the site visit.
The final results will be announced at an awards ceremony on Friday 29th February 2008, at the St. David's Hotel, Cardiff.
