School Disruptions

Guidance to Schools during School Disruptions

Schools may experience disruptions, particularly during the winter due to transport issues, central heating problems, weather conditions etc.

It is important to get information to the public as quickly and extensively as possible on these occasions, therefore the following guidelines are being issued to inform Headteachers of the facilities available to do so:

  • The website.

A section has been established on the Council website where any information on school disruptions is given. The schools themselves have control over this and it can be checked daily by parents or members of the public. It is also checked by the Council Press Office and Radio Carmarthenshire. Headteachers are advised to use this facility whenever possible.  (Please refer to School Disruptions User Manual below).

  • Radio Carmarthenshire.

They have agreed that Headteachers can contact them directly to broadcast information on any school disruptions. The password ****** will be needed to ensure the information is genuine. This password and emergency numbers are confidential.  (This information has already been sent by E-mail).

  • The Press Office.

Schools can contact the Press Office during normal working hours and the information will be sent to all local media within a few minutes

  • The Press Manager.

Out of hours, the Press manager can be contacted to pass on information on schools' behalf. It will go first to Radio Carmarthenshire as a matter of urgency, and then to other local media.
