Our School
The school is an Infant/Junior School and therefore caters for children from the age of 3 to 11 years. The Authority has categorised the School as an A/B school. This means that the school can offer English medium or Welsh medium education. The children in the English classes are taught Welsh as a second language whilst the children in the Welsh classes are taught Welsh as the main medium of communication.
Children leave the school in the July following their 11th birthday, to attend a local Comprehensive School - usually Dyffryn Taf or Bro Myrddin.
Aims and Objectives
Our basic intention is to help each child realise his/ her maximum potential. Our aims are:
1. To create a happy school environment.
2. To help children learn courtesy, good manners and consideration for others are very important qualities.
3. To ensure a basic command of Welsh and English and an ability to communicate with other people in both languages.
4. To encourage a knowledge of reading.
5. To develop a knowledge and understanding of basic mathematical operations.
6. To encourage scientific curiosity and organise observational studies particularly through the local environment.
7. To awake an awareness of the heritage around us through studies of history, geography and religious education.
8. To teach skills in handwriting, handicrafts and other creative arts including music.
9. To provide an enjoyment of physical activities, drama, movement, and mime, and to teach basic recreational skills.
10. To establish an environment within which teaching and non-teaching staff, school governors, advisory colleagues, parents and future parents can work together for the successful achievement of these aims.
