Our School

Tycroes Primary School has played a major role in the education of the children of Tycroes for many years.  The school was initially opened on the 4th November 1902.  The school’s first Head teacher was Mr. Seth Parry, and there were one hundred and forty five pupils in the school.

In 1968 the school building underwent major improvements.  Three new Key Stage 2 classrooms were built, and the existing classrooms were completely renovated, shaping the school building into what we know it as today.

The world of education today is certainly different to what it was when Tycroes School welcomed its first pupil, and indeed the world of education continues to change.  In Tycroes School we endeavour to meet the constantly changing demands of the world of education with a positive and firm attitude.  Indeed, our belief is that a good school never does stand still.  A good school is one that constantly endeavours to find ways of improving the quality of education it offers its pupils and of raising the standards they achieve.

Tycroes School certainly does not stand still.  In Tycroes School we are constantly looking for ways of not only maintaining the quality of education we provide, but also of improving it.  We do this by setting ourselves goals and targets, without loosing sight of what is our ultimate goal, which is to ensure success and achievement for all our pupils.

In Tycroes School we aim to foster a good working relationship between parents and the school, and the support and co-operation of parents is always appreciated.  Both the staff and myself feel that establishing a partnership with parents is an essential element in enabling pupils to achieve their full potential, and parents are always welcome to come to the school to discuss any concerns they may have about their child’s education in particular, or about any aspect of school life in general.
