Our Village School
Ysgol John Vaughan dates back to 1705. It was established as a Charity School by John Vaughan of Derllys Court to educate the poor of the parish. The school is a Voluntary Controlled Primary School situated within the village of Llangynog.
The school enjoys a very close association with Llangynog Church and plays a prominent role in the community, involving itself in many local functions.
The Governing Body is very proud of the school's achievements in educational, sporting, cultural and environmental activities.
The Governors take an active interest in all aspects of the school operation and seek to work in close support with the Head Teacher and Staff. In unison they seek to create a happy and friendly environment for children that is conducive to constructive learning.
Aims
At Ysgol John Vaughan, we aim to create a happy and caring environment in which pupils and staff can work alongside one another.
The School's ethos has its foundation in Christian values, which is encouraged in day to day life.
All members of staff are committed to the development of basic literacy and numeracy skills.
The development of the whole child - educationally, physically, spiritually and morally - is of prime importance, so that they fulfil their potential to the best of their ability.
