Welcome to Five Roads School

Five Roads School is a bilingual Infant/Junior(Category A)School. At present there are 90 children on roll. It has a friendly and congenial atmosphere. The School is attractively situated in rural surroundings in the picturesque village of Five Roads, 3 miles from Llanelli and 11 miles from Carmarthen. The School is to be found in a secluded position 200 metres from the village square on Heol Hen.

Curricular Aims and Objectives.

The intention of the curriculum is to stimulate the academic, social, spiritual, emotional and physical development of the child so that they will become sensible and sensitive adults in the community they will be a part of. We also strive to ensure that each child realises his/her full potential bearing in mind age and ability. We believe that it is important to create an awareness of the needs of others and to instil a sense of strong moral values, respect and self discipline. The School also sets out to provide every child with the opportunity of acquiring the following:

• An awareness of the spiritual dimension of life by gaining knowledge of the main religions of the World and in particular Christianity.
• The development of good basic skills in all subjects.
• The development of sound numerical skills and mathematical knowledge and understanding.
• The development of language in all its various forms so that it becomes a purposeful and meaningful means of communication. This will include listening, speaking, reading, writing and literary appreciation.
• An awareness of the child's locality, the wider world, language, culture, and traditions.
• To encourage self expression through literature, music, mime, dance, drama, art and physical education.
• To create an awareness of the need for personal hygiene and safe practices at school, home and in the community.
• An introduction to the world of Science and Technology.
