Climate Champions Competition

The Welsh Assembly Government today (20 September 2007) launched a competition to find four Climate Change Champions for Wales.

To enter, young people are being asked to send in a news report demonstrating how they will encourage their friends, family, school or community to help tackle climate change. The Champions will become spokespeople for climate change in Wales and will take part in a European climate change expedition in February 2008.

“Happy 50th Birthday Europe !”

The European Union is celebrating its 50th birthday on 25 March 2007, exactly 50 years after the Treaty of Rome was signed in 1957, creating the European Economic Community. Now, half a century later, the European Union is at the forefront of underpinning prosperity, solidarity, peace and stability in Wales, Europe and the world.

To mark this occasion, the Welsh Assembly Government, the British Council and the European Commission have together launched a primary school competition in Wales to design a birthday card for Europe.
