DT in Curriculum 2008

The contents of this document have been compiled in order to assist teachers in developing the Key Skills Framework within Design and Technology. The Scheme of Work for Years 5 and 6 has been used as a starting point - lesson plans have been devised to incorporate 'Thinking Skills' strategies as an aid to meet the lesson's 'Success Criteria'. These lessons can be adapted for use in lower Key Stage 2 or Key Stage 3.

The units of work on "Structures" have been submitted by a small team, comprising Catrin Watkins (Ysgol-y-Castell), Bob Dowdswell (QE High), and Lisa Hearne (Advisory Teacher for DT). Many of the other units have been submitted by teachers attending the Developing Key Skills in Design and Technology Inset Course (DTP91). We hope you will find them an useful source of ideas and a stimulus to produce your own DT projects.
