F1 Challenge
The F1 Challenge is underway in Carmarthenshire with more than 20 teams having signed up for the venture. Pupils from across the county from ages 9- 14 years are taking part in this multi-disciplinary project involving the design, testing, manufacture and racing of an F1-style racing car. In addition to the car itself, students are required to raise sponsorship, develop a team image and present their project orally, through portfolio work and also through an attractive display stand.
As the challenge is so multi-faceted and requires the use of a variety of skills, some schools are availing themselves of the opportunity of securing WJEC Accreditation for Key Skills by undertaking the work.
Although the registration for the Carmarthenshire Racing Day, set for July 1st 2009 at Parc y Scarlets, is now closed, schools may wish to join in the Challenge during the Autumn Term and participate in the South Wales Regional Finals held at the end of November.
