Induction - Five Year Rule and Short Term Supply Teaching

As you are aware, any teacher who obtained Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) after 1^st April 2003 in Wales is required to complete a statutory Induction period. The purpose of this letter is to outline issues and actions required regarding short-term supply teaching after the 5 year rule has been exceeded.

To claim this grant, teachers should have completed their Induction Year and have a full time or part time contract for four months or a term in the subject that they have trained in at a maintained secondary school.
